ACT Clutch Kits (Heavy Duty Pressure Plate) for 08-12 WRX 2.5L (5-Speed)

ACT offers several varieties of clutch kits for the 2008-2012 Subaru WRX that provide increasing levels of WRX performance enhancement. Each level of ACT clutch has its purpose, and we can recommend an ACT package for your 08-12 Subaru WRX based on the level of modification and purpose of the car. All ACT clutch kits for the 08-12 WRX include a friction surface, a pressure plate, a throw-out bearing, and an alignment tool.

All kits listed on this page feature ACT's Heavy Duty Pressure Plate with a clamp load increase of 32%. Clutch pedal will feel stock to moderate.

Heavy Duty Pressure Plate + Performance Street Disc (SB5-HDSS)

ACT's Performance Street friction surface is SFI certified and is an excellent choice for modified, street driven cars and race cars. The SS disc provides quicker engagement than a stock surface and is quiet compared to other, more aggressive, friction surfaces. The sprung hub uses bushings and cone springs similar to OEM clutch discs; this creates frictional dampening that improves clutch life and reduces noise.

Heavy Duty Pressure Plate + Spring Centered 6-Puck Disc (SB5-HDG6)

The ACT 6-Puck Sprung Hub Race Disc is SFI certified, so it is legal for all forms of racing that require SFI compliance. The ACT 6-Puck race disc has a very durable friction surface with good spline life and was designed for a highly modified car that can be driven to, from, and on the track... as long as harsher engagement is acceptable. The sprung hub helps to reduce driveline shock and be relatively quiet compared to an unsprung hub, though it can still be noisier than a full face disc and will have some chatter.

Heavy Duty Pressure Plate + Spring Centered 4-Puck Disc (SB5-HDG4)

The ACT 4-Puck Sprung Hub Race Disc has very harsh engagement and is designed for road race cars only. The friction surface has good durability and spline life characteristics under normal use. The sprung hub helps to reduce driveline shock and be relatively quiet compared to an unsprung hub but will definitely have chatter. The ACT G4 is SFI certified, so it is legal for all forms of racing that require SFI compliance. We do not recommend the this clutch for a daily driven/street car.

Heavy Duty Pressure Plate + Solid Hub 6-Puck Disc (SB5-HDR6)

The reduced inertia of the ACT 6-Puck Solid hub allows for very fast shifts at the expense driveability. An ACT R6 race disc friction surface has very good durability but will have shortened spline life. ACT designed the R6 for a highly modified track cars where harsher engagement is expected and some clutch chatter is not a problem. The 6-puck layout of the R6 will absorb, and dissipate, more heat than a 4-puck unit. The ACT 6-Puck Solid Hub Race Disc is legal for all forms of racing that require SFI compliance. We do not recommend the R6 for any road going car.

Highlights: Recommended for Road Racing, Increased torque capacity, Faster shifts, reduced inertia, Very good durability but shortened spline life, Absorbs more heat than 4 pad, Harsh engagement, some chatter. Not recommended for street use.

Heavy Duty Pressure Plate + Solid Hub 4-Puck Disc (SB5-HDR4)

The low inertia of the ACT 4-Puck Solid hub allows for the fastest shifts possible. An ACT R4 race disc friction surface has good durability but will have shortened spline life. ACT designed the R4 for a highly modified track & drag racing cars where harsher engagement is expected and clutch chatter is not a problem. The ACT 4-Puck Solid Hub Race Disc is legal for all forms of racing that require SFI compliance. We do not recommend the R4 for any road going car.
